Eligibility criteria
Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Description of task
Under the direct supervision of Communication Specialist the two UN Volunteers will undertake the following tasks:
- Coordinate and monitor technical agency supporting Young People Advisory Panel (YPAP)
- Provide full support in the development and implementation of Young People Advisory Panel (YPAP)
- Support the organization and implementation of the YPAP activities.
- Maintain an effective communication mechanism for YPAP members (and UNICEF) through WhatsApp.
- Support maintenance of the online resource hub with knowledge materials relevant to YPAP and which can help in capacity-building and information sharing.
- Work closely with lead agency to identify potential opportunities for YPAP members to participate and contribute to national level processes, other youth forums and share with UNICEF focal person.
- Provide technical inputs to the programming, monitoring and tracking of results of UNICEF Strategic Plan:
- Review reports from the YPAP on a quarterly basis and provide inputs to regular management briefs to inform decision making.
- Provide technical support to partners around young people’s engagement to support implementation of programmatic activities.
- Support YPAP members to develop blogs, HIS, ‘diary’ of their experiences and share with UNICEF focal point to share on social media and digital platforms
- Support in the conceptualization and design of training and leadership activities of YPAP members.
- Assist in document processes and outcomes for various YPAP – UNICEF supported interventions and activities.
- Provide support to other young people engagement activities at TCO, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, Community Development, Marketing, Public Relations and or other Social Sciences related studies.
Required experience: 12 Months
Experience remark:
- Demonstrated interest in and/or knowledge of social issues, policies and programmes, including as related to education, health, nutrition, protection, hygiene, and others, including as they relate to a diversity of Tanzanian young people, including the most vulnerable;
- 1-2 years’ experience in youth leadership and participation; communication and community engagement around children’s rights.
- Demonstrated experience working with a diversity of young people, including vulnerable and disadvantaged populations;
- Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
- Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
- Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
- Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions;
- Fluency in spoken and written in both English and Swahili languages is required;
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
- Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others)
